New Decade, New Blog

I turned 50 this summer. I had things I'd wanted to do before that moment. The key one was to score a half-century on the cricket pitch.
That plan was put to bed when I dislocated my collar bone in the first game of the season. The injury was diagnosed as an ACJ Sprain, Grade 2.  1-3 weeks of rest, then building up strength, should have seen me back on the pitch within 6-8 weeks.
9 weeks later, the outer end of the bone was still drifting around, so back to the hospital I went. They decided I might need surgery, so referred me to the specialists. That took me to 23 weeks or so, at which point they decided to do the surgery.  Now, over half a year on, I'm waiting for my appointment for surgery.  I hope it's soon.
Those are the facts of the matter. These are the questions.
Why did I have to dive to the ground and land on my shoulder back in April?
Why didn't I mend like most people?
Of all the cricket seasons to miss, why this one?
Will I play again?
Will I ever score more than 35 runs.
Will I ever get a 5-fer?  I managed a 4-fer a couple of years ago.

In better news, I'm finally getting a programming colleague.  Our mix of knowledge and experience should get things really rolling in the data aspect of the business.

Oh, and I may have found the line of descent from Robert the Bruce to me.
